Vic TolomeiChief Technology Officer, BBHVP, Product Development, BBH Software Business SolutionsAs Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for BÖWE Bell + Howell (BBH), Vic is responsible for software technical strategy and architecture for the company. This includes coordinating the various global business units to optimize reuse and create standards. As VP of Software Business Solutions (SBS) for BBH, Vic is responsible for all software product development, teams, deliverables and processes at the strategic and tactical level. This includes converting customer business functionality needs into technical designs, building high quality enterprise-wide global applications, and supporting their deployment at BBH customer sites and hosting sites. Vic uses his experience in hands-on technical project management to bring formal engineering disciplines to BBH, such as Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies, Function Point Counting software measurement analysis techniques, and quality-oriented processes such as agile programming. Vic has 34 years of professional experience in software product and application architecture, development and technical management. This includes extensive and intensive work with the Web and Internet, client/server, workstation, microcomputer, minicomputer and mainframe platform architectures, spanning the operating system level through the user interface, from real-time computer graphics and video to enterprise multinational business applications. Most recently, Vic was VP of Product Development at SciQuest, a Web-based supplier enablement, procurement automation, and materials management solutions provider. Before joining SciQuest, Vic was Senior Director of Technology at HAHT Commerce, a business-to-business e-commerce product, services and platform provider. Prior to HAHT, Vic was VP of Development at Imonics, Corp. and at Exidy, Inc. Vic has served in senior management and technology positions at Sun Microsystems for many years, and had various senior programming roles at UCLA. During this time he had also been a Senior Instructor for the University of California in several certified programming courses. Vic has a BSin Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he graduated from the Honors College, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. He holds a US Patent for algorithmically controlled computer animation, and is a contributing author to a recently published book on practical software metrics in the real world |
